SUMMARY

This week, I went into imaginary “rooms” representing the essentials that professionals in the music industry use today. Enjoy!

CLASSROOM (THEORY & ANALYSIS)

In Gordon Hempton’s interview “Silence and the Prescence of Everything” I learned that any natural sound can become relatable in today’s world. For instance, “an elk call, heard miles away, turns into a magic flute”. The prospect of everything being a musical instrument isn’t new, but it is something that I found allowed me to think outside the box and inspire a song that could encompass that.

LAB (THEORY PRACTICED)

  • Set a timer
  • Spend up to 15 minutes outside in the ‘room’
  • Explore some songs at https://www.hooktheory.com/theorytab
  • Write a few sentences reflection about what you learned
  • DELETE ALL OF MR. LE DUC’s INSTRUCTIONS, AFTER YOU ARE DONE

OUTSIDE (CREATIVITY & THE BRAIN)

I thought about myself as a swirl on a board of colors, and other, murkier colors trying to blur the line of distinct colors. This in my mind represents the uncertainty of the times we live in right now in good ol’ 2020. And that spiral comes closer and closer together into who I will be as a person.
